This has been a really great year for books. These are my favorites published in 2016 (with my GoodReads rating):
Duke of Sin by Elizabeth Hoyt (5 stars): My absolute favorite in the Maiden Lane series so far. I fully understand why some people hated this book. I didn’t love Val because he was a “good guy” — in fact, he’s absolutely demented and I don’t think he was “redeemed” at the end. I just felt Val in particular was so brilliantly written by Hoyt and I couldn’t put this book down.
Until Harry by L.A. Casey (5 stars): I sorta found this book by accident and it was so full of angst and HOLY CRAP I LOVED IT.
Duke of My Heart (4 stars) and A Duke to Remember (5 stars) by Kelly Bowen: What a fantastic series, especially the female protagonists with unusual professions!
Sleepless in Manhattan (4 stars) and Sunset in Central Park (4 stars) by Sarah Morgan: Another great series, #2 has the slight edge on #1 for me because it’s friends to lovers!
I Wish You Were Mine (4 stars) and To Have and To Hold by Lauren Layne (4 stars): New releases from Layne in two different series felt like Christmas. She is an autobuy for me.
Love On My Mind by Tracey Livesay (4 stars): Wonderful interracial romance with a hero on the spectrum. I loved both main characters but Adam is absolutely drool-worthy. Sigh.
Because of Miss Bridgerton by Julia Quinn (4 stars): Wasn’t a fan of her book before this so I felt like this was getting back to the “old” JQ for me.
The Hating Game by Sally Thorne (4 stars): I want to re-read this because it was *so close* to 5 stars. Probably the funniest book I read this year.
Wow, that’s a lot. Sorry!
