I read romance of any sub-genre, but particularly love contemporaries. Well-written stories of any variety interest me though and I'm always on the hunt for my next favorite book. I love smart-mouthed heroines and tortured heroes, unusual time periods and just about anything medieval. On a personal note, I'm a political junkie, Cushing's Disease survivor, mom to 11 rescued dogs and too many cats to actually count.

Paradise by Judith McNaught
It's a romance classic. I had never read anything like it before and all these years later, Matt and Meredith's story has remained a favorite.
Favorite Non-Romance
The Dollmaker by Harriette Simpson Arnow
I love the portrayal of an Appalachian family who moves north during the auto industry boom. It's haunting, tragic, and beautifully written. Gertie is the heroine I aspire to be in real life. She's resilient and resourceful, innately good, and always true to herself and her roots.
What I Love in a Romance
Well developed characters who are flawed yet relatable. Evocative writing. Emotional conflicts. Spooky settings. We need more gothics! Humor, though this is subjective. I love witty dialogue and wry observations by the narrators.
What I Hate in a Romance
Paper thin plots/conflicts. Page after page of mental lusting - Get it on or STFU already! Too much internal monologue - I love deep POV, but retreading the same ground over and over will make me DNF.
