This changes too much to pin down for long. I read mostly Contemporary Romance or Young Adult Fantasy and Paranormal. Currently I am rereading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (or listening to the audio, more accurately) and just starting Indecent Proposal by Katee Roberts.
Angst. Torture those heroes and I'm happy. I want people to pine and suffer before they get their happy ending.
What I Hate in a Romance
Unbelievable small towns. Seriously, I grew up in a small town and not everyone knows everyone's business and meddles in their life. If a book is set in a small town where the local biddies play matchmaker and know every detail of everything, I'll drop it like a bad habit.
I'm also no fan of shifters, werewolves, or most adult Paranormal Romance. I can handle fairies or witches sometimes, but if the book has more than one supernatural element thrown in I will lose interest. Its why I lost interest in the Southern Vampire series. Vampires are fine, but once werewolves, witches, fairies, ghosts, aliens, shifters, and every other manner of oogie-boogie shows up, I'm out.
