This is an interesting older Garwood. In her B+ review, Melinda wrote: Garwood’s historicals, especially her medievals, are generally on the light side, with heroines trying to train their surly heroes in the ways of polite society and a fair amount of Keystone-cop-like behavior going on around them. In Prince Charming, Taylor still has a number of Garwood traits, but her story is darker and more serious. She knows she must avoid her pedophile uncle not only for her own safety but that of her two young orphaned nieces.

Fans can’t get enough of Hazelwood! In her review, Dolly wrote: When I grabbed a copy of Ali Hazlewood’s Loathe to Love You, I didn’t realize it was three connected novellas rather than one full-length novel. But since I’m a fan of novellas, that wasn’t an issue for me. Some readers may think that novellas are less bang for your buck, but the reality is that they’re just as complex to write as a novel (all the same elements as plot, characterization, conflict, and resolution, but in a tighter space).

I had so much fun reading The Love Wager. It has the wonderful humor I’ve come to love from Painter’s stories and I could feel the sparks fly between Jack and Hallie. It’s a terrific romcom.
Jack and Hallie meet at Colin and Olivia’s wedding (from Mr. Wrong Number) where Hallie is bartending to earn extra cash to pay off her student loans. After Jack’s jealous date loses her temper and throws wine on Hallie, Jack and Hallie end up having a one night stand. Despite enjoying themselves, they decide to just be friends but are soon surprised to see they have matched on a dating app, Looking4TheReal (which Jack snarkily refers to as the Soulmate-Home-Shopping-Network app). They decide to be friends and help each other find their soulmates. And, yes, they make a wager on who can find true love first.
