King of Sloth is the fourth book in Ana Huang’s hugely popular Kings of Sin Series, inspired by the seven deadly sins. Each book has a rich and powerful billionaire. This one has Xavier, a party boy heir who falls for Sloane, his grumpy, beautiful, hardworking publicist. It was a little slow in the beginning but once it picked up, I didn’t want to put it down.

Sloane is impressive. She runs her own PR firm and we have seen her in earlier books in the series, handling publicity for the billionaires. Xavier is one of her most challenging clients as she tries to keep his partying antics out of the press. When his father becomes ill and needs Xavier to represent him at a charity gala, Sloane is tasked with getting him there. (Xavier and his father are estranged). Xavier is intrigued by Sloane and tells her he will go to the gala if she will spend a week on vacation with him in Spain. Their banter is a lot of fun. Xavier is charming and gorgeous and wants Sloane to relax and unwind. Once they get to Spain, they enjoy a couples massage and at night he gives her dance lessons. One of the things I enjoy about Huang’s books is all of the glitz and glamour and the beautiful places they visit.

When Xavier’s father passes away, Xavier finds out that in order to inherit his father’s billions, he has to be CEO of a successful business before he turns thirty, which is only six months away! Xavier decides he will open a nightclub in Manhattan. (I did wonder how he would pull this off!) He said he could put his knowledge from years of partying to use and build a club of his own. Sloane gives him contacts to help him and they turn out to be the billionaires from the other books in the series which is fun.

Sloane is also estranged from her family after her sister ended up married to Sloane’s boyfriend, so there is some drama there. Her parents cut her off and disowned her which was hard because she also has a seriously ill younger half-sister who she is close to and wants to see. Sloan is brilliant and I admired how she built her successful PR firm on her own and how dedicated she is to the people she loves.

While this isn’t my favorite of Huang’s books (mainly because it’s pretty long and took me a little bit to get into), I love all the glitz and glamour in her stories and seeing Xavier falling for Sloane when he could have any other girl he wanted. They enjoy some more dance lessons – he teaches her to Salsa this time and it gets spicy.

I am excited for King of Envy, coming April 29, starring Vuk (Xavier’s partner in the club) and Ayana, who is engaged to Vuk’s oldest friend. I read King of Sloth to get ready for King of Envy and am glad I did. I enjoyed seeing Xavier’s growth and how he and Sloane, along with other favorite characters in the series, support and are there for each other and I’m happy it won’t be long before Huang’s next book is here.
