Strangers in the Night is the second erotica short in Walker’s Loving on the Edge trilogy, but it completely stands alone.

Investigative journalist Ben O’Neil is on his way to research an anonymous tip when his car breaks down. Lucky for him, Patrice Reynaud happens by and offers him a ride. It seems fortune is really smiling on Ben because not only is Patrice very hot, she’s also a big fan. But when Patrice insists on helping Ben with his investigation, he has to figure out how to keep her out of danger while still finishing the job.

For the most part, Strangers in the Night was fairly enjoyable, but I never felt connected to either of the characters or their story. I remained detached throughout, and rolled my eyes whenever Patrice would gush about how big a fan of Ben’s she was, but really there was nothing that truly bothered me. It was all just … average, albeit pleasantly so.

I should also add that I found the very last sex scene quite unbelievable in that Patrice didn’t have to talk Ben into trying what she suggested, but other than not being able to suspend my disbelief about how easily he acquiesced, I can’t say anything about it bothered me.

All in all I found Strangers in the Night to be an enjoyable, but ultimately average read.
