Today’s Steals and Deals at AAR…..

Love Christmas romances? Here you go! In our review, we wrote: This read a bit like an adult, Christmas-time fairy-tale, but there’s more to it than that. Toward the end we discover more about Rio and Evie. Evie’s past helps explain why she’s willing to do anything to avoid hurting her much-loved grandfather. And Rio’s past, and his mysterious deal both help explain his actions in the present.

Sarah Morgan’s contemporary romance Sleigh Bells in the Snow is a winner as well. In our review, Haley wrote: Even if you are normally reluctant to read Christmas books, like myself, you will be swept away by the winter wonderland and steamy romance presented in Sleigh Bells in the Snow . Morgan has really shown her talent in this longer-length piece and infused so much love, both romantic and familial, into her characters that I am anxiously looking forward to what she writes in the future.

OK, OK, it’s a lot of Sarah Morgan but, really, The Summer Seekers is a great read too! In her review, Lisa wrote: The Summer Seekers works as women’s fiction and as a romance, though the romantic component is naturally a sidebar to the each woman’s personal growth as she moves through her vacation. What’s important is what they learn about themselves and how they can (and do) change their lives to live richer and more fulfilling ones.

If you’ve missed this one by Toni Blake, it’s worth a gander. It’s my favorite of Blake’s books–sexy, sweet, and with leads you root for. In our review, we wrote: One Reckless Summer is at turns funny, sexy, and tear-jerking. Jenny and Mick’s chemistry is flammable and the sex scenes hot, but what is even better is how much I felt their growing bond. Mick and Jenny find in each other something that they are each desperately in need of. They complement each other well, and their love is the balm to soothe past hurts.

This is the best of a fun series by Wells. I’m not the world’s biggest fan of shifter romances but I enjoyed this one a lot. It’s got lots a snark and snogging. Here’s the blurb:
Una
I keep my head down. In this backwards pack, females rank low, and my bad leg makes me damaged goods. It doesn’t help that I’ve never shifted. I don’t mind the late twenties single life, though. No one’s paying any attention as I build an illicit farmer’s market empire.
My roomies and I are doing it for ourselves, and if life under Killian Kelly is stifling, at least it’s predictable. We can deal.
But when biology finally kicks in, I lose my mind. I claim our alpha as my mate. And he rejects me in front of the whole pack.
It’s all good. It only hurts when I breathe. I’ll survive. That’s what I do.
Who wants an arrogant jerk for a mate, anyway? I’ve got a business to run.
Killian
To lead this pack out of the dark ages, I’ve had to be hard. Merciless. I don’t flinch, and I don’t make mistakes.
Una Hayes isn’t my mate.
My wolf might have some kind of strange infatuation, but if she were mine, I’d know it. And I can walk away, can’t I?
And if I keep coming back? If she starts living in my head?
I’m the strongest male in five generations. My pack scrambles to do my bidding. I can bring one quiet female back in line. No one can possibly be as stubborn as I am.
There’s no way I’ve ruined the best thing that’s ever happened to me.
I’m the Quarry pack alpha. I don’t lose.

We gave this one an A. Our reviewer wrote:
When my teenage student walked into my classroom, slammed a copy of this book on the desk, and announced, in audible capital letters, “THIS IS THE BEST BOOK EVER WRITTEN,” I knew Anna and the French Kiss was something special. A contemporary story of discovering the world and yourself at the same time, Anna works for readers of any age. If you read young adult, read Anna. If you don’t read young adult, start with Anna. You won’t be sorry.
Anna Oliphant wants to stay at her Georgia high school with her best friend, the cute boy at the Multiplex named Toph, and the familiarity of United States rites of passage like Homecoming and Prom. Her father, however, has other plans: Anna will acquire Culture by spending her senior year in Paris. Anna, who speaks no French and has barely traveled, struggles to fit into this strange new world. Can she make new friends without replacing her best friend back home? Can she make new friends, full stop? Would getting to know Etienne St. Clair, her gorgeous French-American classmate, be a betrayal of the relationship she and Toph never had a chance to begin? Will she ever learn enough French to order something besides bread?
