Charm School is one of my favorite’s of Susan Wiggs’s historical romances. It’s been a while since I read it but Isadora Peabody, interpreter, is on a ship full of men sailing from Boston to Rio de Janeiro. I can’t remember if she stows away or the captain just doesn’t want a female on his boat, but eventually, when the crew begins taking her side against the captain, things get pretty funny as I recall. FYI – The cover on the Amazon edition is wrong. The characters in this novel are both accomplished, sly adults, not the teenagers depicted on this cover.
