Today’s Steals and Deals at AAR…..
Our reviewer couldn’t say enough good things about this steampunk series starter!
I enjoyed this book more than I think I can express in a single review. The moment I finished it I wanted the next one in the series. The steampunk world is incredible, all the way from awesome weaponry to colorful clothing. Eliza’s sassy attitude kept me upbeat throughout the entire book, even when I was scared for the characters’ lives. At one point I actually stopped reading and wondered, “How are the authors going to get them out of this?”
I must also say, nothing pleases me quite as much as a bad-ass heroine. Furthermore, the hero is equally as bad-ass, but in his own, unique flavor.
So, if you are a sci-fi/fantasy lover, or even if you’ve toyed with the idea of trying out the genre, I shall advise you on what I think you should do after you read this review: Drive to your local bookstore, and purchase Phoenix Rising. If you are looking for a quick-paced, passionate adventure with characters you’ll want to follow through many, many books, I am sure that Phoenix Rising is a superb choice. As I write this, I am still yearning for the next in the series.

Love a good military romance? Lovelace is one of its queens! In our B+ review, we said:
I’m a huge hockey fan. So, when I read that the hero of River Rising was a former hockey star, I became engrossed in the plot immediately. But River Rising isn’t about sports. It’s about murder and lust and the problems that can arise when the two become entangled.
Carly Samuels is a JAG attorney who has just been handed the biggest case of her career – the murder of a young colonel who is also a general’s daughter. The colonel’s husband is the main suspect. He was seen near the site of the murder by Ryan McMann, a former hockey star who was banned from the sport after carrying on an illicit affair with a drug-addicted, underage fan. Ryan has done time for his crime and he’s carrying a chip on his shoulder toward the legal system that sensationalized his trial and took away everything that was dear to him. He’s hostile to Carly’s questioning, even as he becomes increasingly fascinated by her. In turn, Carly is attracted to Ryan, even as she becomes more suspicious about his role in the murder.
