Today’s Steals and Deals at AAR…..
It’s funny, I gave this a B+ but I remember it as one of my favorites of Ms. Heath’s. I wrote: Ms. Heath has written an excellent book with Waking up with the Duke. As I turned the pages, I wondered how she would write a viable happy ending for Jayne and Ainsley without resorting to strained plot devices. Happily, Ms. Heath, who has done her research on 19th century medicine, resolves her story in a creative and satisfying way. Waking up with the Duke might be the first romance I’ve read where the appendix at the end of the story — it explains an invention of Benjamin Franklin’s — makes a strong story significantly better.

This is a fun if slightly flawed romance. We said: … if you don’t mind the well-used enemies-to-lovers plot and the similarly overly-used neuroses of the hero, and enjoy a hero and heroine who can rip each other to shreds and then rip each other’s clothes off with hot, steamy abandon, this might be worth a few hours of your time.

I’ve read this one and very much enjoyed it. Our B+ review is here. We said: Tiger’s Eye, an historical romance set in England at some time in the 1800s, kept me riveted to each page and featured what have become two of my favorite characters of hers – Lady Isabella St Just, Countess of Blakely, and self-professed gutter rat Alec Tyron, King of London’s thieves and the “tiger” of the book’s title.
