I really enjoyed this one. In my review I said:

I’d give it a B+/A-. I really enjoyed unfurling the plot. I suspect that had I read The Family Upstairs, I’d still have liked it this much but I’d have had a different experience. So I think it’s a win for those who’ve read the first book and those who’ve not.

There’s a lot to like about A Scandalous Deal.  Eva and Philip are strongly drawn, attractive characters, the setting and the architectural details are lovingly described and have clearly been well researched and I really enjoyed the subplots concerning the corruption rife in the city at the time, the difficulties with the unions and Eva’s wonderfully inventive solution to the problems that arise as a result.
