We very much enjoyed this book–our reviewer’s slightly low grade is due to where the book fits into the series rather than any real issues with the book itself. 

The book featured a lot that I liked: two immensely likable protagonists who fall in love after having known each other for a long time. Indeed, that’s one of my favorite plot lines. Add to this Julia Quinn’s wit, which had me chuckling often, a number of fine secondary characters, and a truly wonderful scene during which the couple has their first sexual encounter, and this sounds like a wonderful read.

Readers love Dare’s Spindle Cove series. This one features a truly lovely pair as its leads.

Ms. Dare’s work here is well-written, funny, and sweet. Readers who’ve loved the earlier Spindle Cove stories will take pleasure in this one as well.

OK, OK–I confess the name of this book’s female lead always makes me smile. I think I’ve seen Notting Hill too many times. We liked it.

Ms. Kleypas is one of my favorite authors, and for good reason. Her writing style has always been amusing and romantic, and I anticipate more from her soon, hopefully involving the bevy of secondary characters who show up here. The sharp intelligence and playfulness which shines through in Ms. Kleypas’ work is especially apparent in Gabriel’s siblings, and I hope that we’ll have the chance to read some of their stories after Ms. Kleypas has finished telling those of the Ravenel family.
