Today’s Steals and Deals at AAR…..
As I’ve said a million times, the effort AAR has to expend to earn a very few dollars from our affiliate links has become harder and harder to justify. We make, usually, less than ten dollars a day from a feature that takes an hour or two to create. And, no matter what we do, Amazon and the way it woos book buyers find ways to make it harder and harder to scrape out that small amount.
For years, we’ve been able to show prices for ebooks on Amazon on our storefront, but, as of today, that is no longer true. This comes after falling rates, the horror–for us, any way–that is Kindle Unlimited, and the constantly shifting goal posts Amazon keeps foisting upon affiliates. Even as book prices have soared, AAR’s Amazon earnings keep shrinking. Folks, it’s just not worth it.
So, it’s my feeling that today is the last Steals and Deals post we’ll have. It’s hard to see that it will be missed–how could it, really, if our readers aren’t buying books through it! (AAR readers, in general, stopped buying full-price books in any real way years ago. Despite that, we will continue to post affiliate links on reviews.)

Sorry to see it go but totally understand. I wouldn’t do all that work for 5 cents either.
Steals and Deals used to be balanced out by readers buying full priced books. Now, very few are bought. Also KU buyers usually just buy that book–they don’t put other things in their cart. AND Amazon has raised the bar from their bonus to sales of over 14K a month which we no longer hit.
Very sorry to see it go. Bought lots of cheap kindle books often.
Thank you. We just didn’t have enough sales to make it work. If a book was on sale for 1.99, we’d get five cents. It just didn’t add up.
