Today’s Steals and Deals at AAR…..
It’s a Saturday, so I’m making this brief. (I’ve a Farmer’s Market to get to!)
AAR readers love Jacke Ashenden’s gritty contemps. We gave Raw Power a B–our review is here. It’s 1.99 today here at Amazon.
Jill Sorenson is so missed. Badlands–our DIK review is here–is a great romantic suspense: Sexy, propulsive, and well written. It’s on sale today for 1.99 here.
An older contemp with an older heroine–sound good? Susan Andersen’s Skintight is a fun read. (Our review is here.) It’s at Amazon, here, for 1.99.
A Perfect Groom by Samantha James is a comfort read. It doesn’t break any new ground, but it does what it does just fine. (You may read our review here.) It’s for sale today for 1.99 here.

BADLANDS is excellent—until the advent of Cate C. Wells, no one wrote fully-realized and relatable working-class characters full of grit & determination better than Sorenson—but it is connected to events in Sorenson’s AFTERSHOCK (which is also $1.99 in the kindle store right now). I would strongly recommend spending the $4 to buy both books and read AFTERSHOCK first. (FREEFALL, the second book in the Aftershock series is also $1.99–its about a different character from AFTERSHOCK, but it would definitely be worth investing $6 to get all three books.)
I like all those books too. I really do miss Jill.
She is one of the few authors I regularly check to see if they have new work. I miss her, too.
Last time I talked with her–maybe five years ago?–she said she just couldn’t make it work financially. She is a full time teacher–lucky kids!
