AAR at the Movies: Avatar 3D

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9ceBgWV8io

What, exactly, can I say about Avatar that hasn’t been already said?  So I’ll keep it short.

What I loved: “Feast for the eyes” doesn’t even cover the visual splendour.  The fictional world of Pandora is, alone, worth the price of re-admission.

What I really didn’t care for: If this movie really took 12 years to conceive, you’d think they’d have spent more time on the script.  And since James Cameron gets sole screenwriting credit, I know exactly who to blame.

What I can’t decide on: 3D.  I think I should have seen it on IMAX, but I found it underwhelming.  Then again, maybe it’s just a sign that is was effortlessly and seamlessly integrated into my movie-watching experience.

What I suggest: Forget the terrible screenplay, and just see the movie.

I enjoyed the movie very much. I would have changed a few things, but not much.

I absolutely LOVED “Avatar” and have seen it twice already and would see it again. I’m a sucker for the “forbidden love” love story, and I loved the whole thing.

Kudos to Sam Worthington too. He stole the show in “Terminator 4,” and I thought he was fantastic in “Avatar” too.

Kay Webb Harrison

I totally agree with KristieJ. I enjoyed the entire Avatar experience.

I have to disagree with you about the horrible screenplay. I liked the story. It was rather simple in a good vs evil way, but still I enjoyed it. And as for the 3D effects – wowzers – they were incredible. I’ve seen it once and was going to see it again but then we got damn snow!! Hopefully by the weekend things will be better so I can see it again. It’s not that often I want to go back for seconds but I do with Avatar.
