Piper Williams loves brewing beer and she’s damn good at if you ask her. She just needs that one big break. Lucky for her, it comes along in the form of Blake Reed, the owner of the newest gastropub in town. Not only does Blake dig Piper’s beer, he digs her and they kick off something special.

The complications in this story come from the outside. Blake’s family is a major player in local and national politics and they are constantly at him to get involved in his father’s campaign and abandon his dream restaurant, which they term as silly. Piper is given a business opportunity that would allow her to achieve her dream of having her beer widely distributed, but it would involve leaving Blake.

All in all, this was a fine read. As contemporaries go, it ticked a lot of boxes with the added benefit of being about food (which is one of my favorite romance professional settings). If you also reading about the food world, then you’ll probably like this one well enough – there were some great bits about the process of opening a gastropub that I enjoyed – but otherwise? Meh.
