Kiss of the Highlander
Often at Speaking of Audiobooks, we complied short reviews and commentary on popular audiobooks as early on, Lea only wrote what she referred to as “mini reviews” although there was much to say about the audio. Kiss of the Highlander is one such book. All content is written by Lea.
Favorite Romance Audiobooks Poll Winner: Second place – Favorite Paranormal Romance Audiobook
Lea’s #5 all time favorite audiobook.
Narrated by Phil Gigante
Narrator Phil Gigante is largely responsible for the outstanding success of this particular time-travel romance. Although fourth is the series, this one stands on its own with a certain bawdiness that speaks to me as well as many laugh-out-loud moments and one very sexy hero.

Speaking of Audiobooks, Male Narrators 6/8/09
When I think of great romance audiobooks, Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series easily wins first place. Close behind are those Susan Elizabeth Phillips books narrated by Anna Fields, and third on my list is, yes, dare I say – Karen Marie Moning’s Highlander Series. While the first and second hold their places firmly due to excellent story content as well as absolutely brilliant narrators, Moning’s high ranking is primarily due to narrator Phil Gigante’s performance. Of course, there’s good writing as well but it is Gigante’s very sexy Scottish brogue and characterization of these Highland warriors that makes the series irresistible. My personal grades for this series range from A to D (with three DIKs and two B+ grades) but it is the audio versions that influenced these high grades. This charming series has a certain bawdiness that speaks to me as well as many laugh-out-loud moments and (did I mention?) very sexy heroes who are always trying to take care of their sensible, highly intelligent heroines. One other note about this vastly entertaining audio series concerns reading order. If I had read (listened to) this series in order, I doubt I would be making this enthusiastic recommendation today. I actually started with book 4, Kiss of the Highlander, my favorite of the series, and followed with books 5-7. If you like time-traveling Scottish warriors in contemporary times, I don’t think you can do much better than this series in audio!
From the Speaking of Audiobooks The Funny Ones
Both GamaTST and I think Karen Marie Moning’s Kiss of the Highlander rates high in the humor category. I’ve raved before about Phil Gigante’s narration of this sexy Highlander tale and I agree with GamaTST that it’s not safe to drive while listening to Drustan’s thoughts on those “torturous trews” (blue jeans) as he wonders about the size of modern men’s “carrots”. Although Kiss of the Highlander is Book 4 in a series, it performs well as a stand-alone.
