Yikes
Yesterday I went grocery shopping and spent $173.28. For one person. Me. No diapers, no formula, no snacks, no organic food, no impulse buying (unless you consider an air freshener for my car at $2.97 impulse buying.

After hearing the endless buzz about how great this show was I finally added it to my Roku. Watched one episode. Then another. And another. Then glommed them over the course of the week till I was done. The last time I remember being this intrigued by a show was two years ago when I…
Before I got my beloved new MBP, I looked at my friends who actually gave their tech devices names like they were nuts. Why? Just, why? You’re going to chuck it in a few years, ten, tops. It’s only a means to access all that’s near and dear, and doesn’t hold the same sentimental value…
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnwG2Pg0X1oRecently I had occasion to go through my old CDs, and zoomed in on my Peter Gabriel CDs. I used to listen to him a lot almost 20 years ago.
Do you cook? If you do, then like me, you’ve undoubtedly made at least one dish that just didn’t turn out as predicted. Most of my flops occur when I’m creating a dish without the help of a recipe. But some recipes, even those praised by numerous individuals on the web, don’t measure up to…

There’s very little character depth, especially on the part of the boy-reporter Tintin. (We never see him working, even though technically he’s a reporter. And where does…
Brrrrr! Yesterday, winter finally arrived in my part of the U.S. north. I truly shouldn’t complain. December and early January have been unbelievably nice with many days in the upper 40s and 50s (Fahrenheit) and plenty of sun. Instead of snow we’ve had rain. I’m grateful.
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhG_WImjnjM When it comes to movies and TV, I’m usually pretty copacetic. I’m picky about what I’ll watch, but after that I have low standards, and I’m generally pretty good about accepting things as they are. However, when I encounter something that I love – no, love – then I become obsessive. I watch it,…
I love rock music. By rock, I mean classic rock like The Cars and The Who, pop rock like Video Games by Lana del Rey, classic pop like Men at Work, fun rhythms like those of No Doubt, punk in the style of Green Day or the Ramones, indie groups like Arcade Fire – you…
