Perfect Gifts for the Awkward-to-buy-for Teen in your life

We’ve all heard the statistics: 70% of gift cards don’t get used. Your hard-earned cash sits in someone’s wallet till it expires, leaving both giver and receiver feeling a bit miffed. We often give gift cards, though, because we have no idea what to give the other person, especially when that other person is a teen. Well – AAR has a solution for that. We’ve put our heads together to recommend the best items for the finicky teen in your life.

For the reader:

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. One of the hottest sellers of 2018 and a must have for teen readers.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before Gift Set by Jenny Han. Before it […]

All We Want for Christmas… part two

We know. It’s tough to beat Michael Buble’s holiday list. But, beyond true love, happy families, and happy ever afters for all, there are a few other things AAR staffers would love to give or get.  (And, again, we thank you for using our links to Amazon.  We are able to stay online by the money we make on our affiliate links and we are beyond grateful when you use them!) Happy holidays!

Chiachi:

Nixplay makes the best digital picture frames. Over the years I’ve found digital picture frames to be the perfect gift for a loved one. You can personalize it by pre-loading it with your favorite pictures (grandparents love getting pictures of their grandkids!) and the built-in wi-fi […]

All We Want for Christmas Is….

OK, OK, It’s not just you we love. (Although we do love you.) But AAR staffers have other things on their holiday list and we thought we’d share them! (This would also be a great time to remind our readers that we are able to stay online by the money we make on our affiliate links and we are beyond grateful when you use them!) Happy holidays!

Dabney: I’m not a big nonfiction reader but I am dying to read Prairie Fires: The American Dreams of Laura Ingalls Wilder by Caroline Fraser. This book was released less than a month ago and it’s gotten tons of buzz from NPR, the NYT, and more. In many ways, the Wilder books defined pioneer America for generations. Laura, Mary, Pa, Ma, Silver Lake, Alonzo–almost 50 […]

Dashing All the Way–A Guest Post and Giveaway

Best-selling and critically acclaimed historical romance authors Celeste Bradley, Eva Devon, Elizabeth Essex and Heather Snow heat up this Christmas with four never-before-released novellas guaranteed to make your holiday season merry and bright.

Today they give us a behind-the-scenes look at what inspired their new Christmas anthology, Dashing All the Way.

Elizabeth Essex:

“Welcome, and thank you for joining us at AAR today. We’re happy to be here to share how our anthology came to be. Last Christmas I had a blessed break in my writing schedule, and actually got to enjoy all the things I love about the holiday season—decorating the house and tree, and baking cookies and pies while singing along to Christmas carols!

And right there in the middle of a chorus of “Jingle Bells,” I thought ‘I should […]

The Holiday Ever After Box Review

img_3415-2

Is there anything better to get in the mail than a box of goodies? Especially one that celebrates one of my favorite things? The Holiday Ever After Box, sent to me by the wonderful Jeannie Lin, has helped make this December a big more festive.  (AAR and the Ever After Box are teaming up in 2017 for a fabulous collaboration but more on that later.)

When mine came, I sat down and opened it, aquiver with anticipation. I was not disappointed. Here’s what it looked like:

The Holiday Ever After Box turned out to be an advent calendar with a month’s worth of gifts from participating romance authors. How cool is that? I, of course, had to pull all the bags out and, whoa, at the bottom was Sarah Morgan’s lovely Miracle on 5th Avenue (a DIK here at AAR) complete with a note from […]
