I see that JAL finally wrote Isaiah & Isolde’s origin story and I am soooo torn about this!! I love JAL, but those who’d read her Pennyroyal Green series already knew how their story ended (which did not have the traditional romance genre ending), so I don’t know if their origin story will serve any purpose other than to satisfy curiosity. I think I will sit this one out in the end.

I just got a preorder notice that Josh Lanyan has a New Romantic suspense novel coming on June 27! Kill Your Darlings. Lanyan is still an auto buy for me, especially when she’s writing about the publishing the publishing world.

I got that, too, but I’m going to wait for reviews. I was pretty disappointed in the last Art of Murder book (are Sam and Josh ever going to get their HEA?) and I lost interest in the Secrets and Scrabble series about halfway through, so I’ll be sitting on the fence, waiting…

Dabney Grinnan

I am reading it now! I will review it.

GraceC

yes, please – I look forward to reading your review.

Dabney Grinnan

I am reading it now. I adore JAL’s work. She’s a wonder.

In June, I’m looking forward to Hockey 101 by Melanie Ting (It’s a KOBO original, not available at Amazon), The Body at the Vineyard by Kate Hardy, Roommating by Meredith Schorr, and Writing Mr. Wrong by Kelley Armstrong (the multi-genre author whose historical mystery book Death at a Highland Wedding I just reviewed here).

Natalie

I wasn’t aware Christina Dodd is still writing. And using Verona as a setting, no less. I guess I’ll be checking it out.

Lisa Fernandes

I reviewed the first book in the series. It’s very not-Shakespearian, but mildly amusing.

Julie

I was wondering whether Krentz had retired her Amanda Quick name due to the current unpopularity of historical romance and publishers’ reluctance to publish books in that genre. Amanda Quick is massively popular, so hopefully there’ll be a new book from her soon.

Caz Owens

Her last few books were, IIRC, 20th century historical mysteries with some romance, rather than Regencies, but given the way trad publishers are dumping HR it may be that she’s not contracted for those any more.

I was shocked to look at my upcoming dates spreadsheet and see that I only have one book on it for June: Nicky James’s PATERNAL INSTINCTS (June 24) is the 8th book in her Valor & Doyle m/m romantic-suspense series. In this post-HEA outing, the MCs (both police detectives) are preparing to welcome a child into their home just as they are assigned to a missing child case.

Same here, although I do have a handful of reviews scheduled for June. I definitely recommend He’s to Die For although that was a chance I took on a new author that worked out well, so wasn’t on my radar for the month. Toni Anderson has a new book in her Cold Justice:Most Wanted series out on 23rd – Cold Truth – she’s one of the few m/f authors whose stuff I still read these days and her books usually work for me.

I picked up a book by new-to-me author Xanthe Walter called Crocodile Tears – she appears to have written mostly fanfic – but I liked the sound of it so decided to give it a try, and I couldn’t put it down. It’s a dystopian romantic suspense story told over 4 books, so the romance hasn’t really got going yet, but book 2 is out soon and I’m really looking foward to it.

Carrie G

I’ve been looking at Crocodile Tears, but I’ll probably wait to see how the rest of the series goes before jumping in.

Caz Owens

It’s pretty angsty and there’s a fair bit of family drama – although not of the meddling family type that you and I both dislike. The rest of the series is scheduled for publication between now and Sept so not too long to wait.

Carrie G

Same here, DDD. The James book is the only one on my radar at the moment. I put the one Caz reviewed today on my TBR list, but it’s too expensive right now for my budget.

Caz Owens

It’s 5 quid in the UK. I have no idea why the pricing this side of the Pond is so different.

Indira

It is $5.83 for me here.

Maggie Boyd

From the list: The Lisa Jewell (Don’t Let Him In), I Think I’m in Love With an Alien by Ann Aguirre Not on the list: Amy Lynn Green The Codebreaker’s Daughter.
