Today’s Steals and Deals at AAR…..

We likened this to Heyer’s best! It’s a DIK at AAR.

Halfway through reading The Weaver Takes a Wife, I was tempted to stop and look again at the copyright notice, just to assure myself that I wasn’t reading a long-lost and recently rediscovered work of Georgette Heyer’s. This was a delightful read from start to finish, reminiscent of the writing that made me fall in love with Regencies all those years ago. A mismatched couple, a marriage of convenience, and a few twists to keep the audience on its toes add up to a thoroughly satisfying read.

This too is a DIK.

This story is about relationships, dating, blended families and helping and supporting each other. The banter between the leads is epic. The book teems with wonderful humor and Swifties will be happy to see lots of Taylor Swift references (there’s a scarf!). I had the best time reading this book and I recommend it to readers who enjoy a cute YA love story with family drama, secrets and good friends.

We always enjoy Serena’s books! This is the start of her latest series.

Though it’s a short, sweet read, the story has some depth. Quinn and Sonya both had bad breakups in their past and are wary of being in a relationship. They also have fears of abandonment that stem from their childhoods. I liked seeing their growth throughout the story and how they brought out the best in each other.

As was true in the Wilder books, family is a big part of the story. All the Hotts as well as the Wilders show up at different times in the book, often for comic relief. I laughed as I turned the pages. This is a feel good read.

Book clubs love this one!

In December 1926, Agatha Christie goes missing. Investigators find her empty car on the edge of a deep, gloomy pond, the only clues some tire tracks nearby and a fur coat left in the car—strange for a frigid night. Her World War I veteran husband and her daughter have no knowledge of her whereabouts, and England unleashes an unprecedented manhunt to find the up-and-coming mystery author. Eleven days later, she reappears, just as mysteriously as she disappeared, claiming amnesia and providing no explanations for her time away.

The puzzle of those missing eleven days has persisted. With her trademark historical fiction exploration into the shadows of the past, acclaimed author Marie Benedict brings us into the world of Agatha Christie, imagining why such a brilliant woman would find herself at the center of such murky historical mysteries.

What is real, and what is mystery? What role did her unfaithful husband play, and what was he not telling investigators?
