Today’s Steals and Deals at AAR…..

Looking to escape in an decades old medieval romance? In our review of this one, from 1999, our reviewer wrote: Joining restores my faith in Johanna Lindsey’s abilities as a storyteller. Her medievals have been some of her best work. In spite of my fondness for the earlier entries in the Malory/Anderson series, perhaps she should just stick to this era. When it comes to medieval romances, everybody – especially yours truly – loves a Lindsey.

Or maybe you’re in the mood for a messed up highly erotic tale. Then, try this one! In our review, our writer said: I must admit that while the story definitely held my attention, and contained its fair share of twists and turns, it wasn’t as dark or as edgy and twisted as what I had originally expected given my prior experience with some of Alessandra Torre’s works…. That said, the heat factor on Trophy Wife, for those that enjoy arrogant, alpha-hole styled heroes, is off the charts. Additionally, there is a thread of a romance triangle that will keep you initially guessing what direction the story will take, never mind a suspense angle to the plot that kept me intrigued…

Or, you could delve into a lovely second chance at love tale. In her review, Maggie wrote: The Partner Plot is a fabulous tale about how two people living vastly different lives can make long-distance love work. I would recommend it to fans of contemporary romance.

Looking for something a bit more soothing? Lisa says: The book spotlights three cases in which the two women help others and are surprised greatly by the arrival of romance. The book’s great at switching the plot up, making you suspect the unexpected. Be warned that the cases these ladies deal with are not ‘gentle’; they fight for the rights of prostitutes and the abused without fear.

The period research here is excellent, as is the way Goodman keeps her characters’ thought processes period apropos. Everything else about The Benevolent Society of Ill-Mannered Ladies is just a little extra sugar in a cup of tea.

Grateful for the friendships you treasure? This book celebrates just that. In her DIK review, Em wrote:

If you like a clever story, this one is a banger.  If you aren’t afraid to cry, get your tissues handy.  And finally, the supporting cast is brilliant.  O’Leary loves great friendships, and Siobhan, Miranda, and Jane are supported by some of the best friends ever.  Their friends – their found families, really – are encouraging and loving, supportive and kind and good, and they add so much richness to this story.  These are the kind of people you want in your corner.

Wow, I wish I could tell you all about this book.  I can’t.  You just have to trust me.  It’s great.  One of the best of the year, and probably my favorite O’Leary book.  So far.
