We gave this contemporary romance a B+. In her review, Lisa wrote: Canadian Boyfriend is shockingly weighty for the usually lighthearted Jenny Holiday, but heavy subject matter looks good on her. The book is just thoughtful enough to keep the winter chill away, but is also a completely trenchant character study. There’s a couple of quirks that keep this from reaching DIK status, but it’s a very good novel.

Elsie Silver’s works sell like Eras tickets. This one is the third book in a beloved series. In her B+ review, Kayne wrote: Powerless takes place in the beautiful Canadian Rockies and is Book 3 in the Chestnut Springs series. The story opens with Jasper coming to Sloane’s rescue when she decides to leave her fiancé on their wedding day. Jasper and Sloane have known each other for many years. This is a fun friends to lovers story mixed up with a wonderful road trip romance.

Caz gave this work by Alexis Hall an A. She wrote: I’ve always enjoyed Alexis Hall’s skill as a wordsmith. Some of his books hit the spot for me and some don’t, but the quality of his writing is never in question, and Waiting for the Flood is surely one of his highest achievements on that score. The writing is astonishingly beautiful – lyrical, insightful, painful, funny, truthful – and the way he uses the descriptions of Edwin’s home to mirror Edwin’s emotions is masterful.

Charlotte wrote: The best way I can describe the pleasure of Hook, Line, and Sinker is that it does all the heavy lifting. It’s an effortless read that breezes along on unpretentious dialogue, endearing characters, and a solid romantic relationship. The only time I felt any need to exert myself in order to understand and enjoy the book was when Hannah made an unfamiliar music reference and even those moments were so few that I didn’t have time to lament my lack of musical knowledge.
