Eagerly Awaited November Books
November is certainly looking like a big historical month. After writing a number of contemporary romances, Lisa Kleypas has returned to historicals (and to Avon!), and many of us on staff couldn’t be happier. Carla Kelly also has a new release out, as does Grace Burrowes. And even though Once Upon a Marquess by Courtney Milan is not yet available on most sites for pre-order, her website indicates that we can expect it to arrive in mid-November – something Caroline, Caz, Mary, Alex and I were all happy to hear. So, what do you want to read this November?

Wow a new Carla Kelly. Thankyou for bringing it to my attention. There seem to be an awful lot of historicals so I will watch carefully for reviews to help me sort them out. Nora Roberts is one of my favourite authors so I did download the new Nora Roberts and was disappointed, the story seemed a rehash of previous books and seemed full of busy work (eg endless descriptions of meals without that touch of magic that makes you want to cook the food) . What didn’t disappoint me was the new Ilona Andrews, Sweep in Peace which is book 2 in the Innkeeper Chronicles. Not a romance per se ( though there is a slow development towards a romance). It is terrific and doing well even though many of us have read the first draft as a free serial on the website.
Some of these covers make me want to try new (to me) authors.
I enjoyed the Kleypas and Allen books. There are some here I’ve never heard of but I’m definitely going to check them out.
When I was fresh out of school and started reviewing here, I stumbled across all kinds of authors I never knew existed. And, thanks to the diverse reading pool here, I’m still finding all kinds of new treats!
I love the internet because it reminds me romance is way bigger than the romance aisle at Target (my old rom reader stomping grounds).
I’m most looking forward to Courtney Milan’s first book in her new series, Once Upon a Marquess and will definitely read that as soon as possible. I’m still looking forward to the new Lisa Kleypas despite mixed reviews. Also on my radar is Eva Leigh’s Scandal Takes the Stage, though I have not yet even had a chance to read her first in the series. Finally, I am interested in reading one of the Lucinda Brant’s books, but perhaps not the new release as I’ll probably start with the first in the Alec Halsey series. Definitely a busy month for new releases!
Yes, there is an embarrassment of riches for fans of historicals this month! I would definitely suggest reading Lucinda Brant’s Alec Halsey mysteries in order.

Just checked on Courtney Milan’s website and the updated release date for Once Upon a Marquess is now December 1. She’s pretty good at letting us know when things change, so I don’t mind waiting just a little longer.
I also have the first in the Alec Halsey series waiting to be read. I’m looking forward to it as I think it should be similar to the Lady Julia Grey and Sebastian St. Cyr series that I like so well. I’m not sure when I will have the time to catch up with my TBR pile, and that is definitely a problem I don’t mind having!
