I am very interested to see if The Fox and the Falcon is as good as The Deer and the Dragon which I loved.
Lily Morton’s Paper Roses (Confetti Hitched #3), was released yesterday. I wasn’t crazy about book 1, Confetti Hearts, but I thought Something Borrowed was a nice read. I’ll be reading this one, although I may wait until the audiobook with Joel Leslie at the helm is released.
I haven’t yet read the first book in Kelly Jensen’s To See the Sun series, but it’s on my TBR list.
Most of the m/m books listed here are by authors I’ve read in the past and enjoyed. The Jensen series feels like the most original one. I enjoy hockey romances, but the market feels flooded and it’s really difficult for books to stand out, even when they’re well written.
My review of the Jensen will run this week – of you’re looking for something a bit different, bump To See the Sun up the TBR.
I wrote my review of the Prescott over the weekend – I honestly don’t think you’ll need to re-read book 1.
I plan on reviewing the Bowen in audio – Teddy Hamilton & J.F Harding are narrating (squee!)
Thanks! Good to know about the Prescott I need to catch up on Bowen’s Hockey Guys. I have the fist one on audio, so I’ll listen soon. You’re right- great narration team!
I have the Jensen on pre- order – I loved to See the Sun!
I plan to read Paper Roses too (already bought). This series hasn’t been my favorite by Lily Morton but Confetti Hearts actually grew on me in re-reading and I liked Something Borrowed. I think Paper Roses has the potential to be my favorite of the 3 (based on tropes).
Good to know. I think Confetti Hearts may be out on audio, so I could revisit it that way.
Have read some of these for the site!
I look forward to seeing your reviews! I just started listening to Lucy Parker’s new one, Misdirected and it reminds me of the London Celebrities series (which I loved).
TEXTBOOK DEFENSE by Ashlyn Kane & Morgan James (February 4) is the next book in their Hockey Ever After series of m/m hockey romances. In this outing, a professional hockey player hires an unemployed children’s librarian to be the manny for his young daughter. A fake relationship ensues. (I’ve already grabbed this from KU, but haven’t started it yet. I’m wondering—in light of the recent Neil Gaiman revelations—which were awful—how much of a stomach romance readers will continue to have for nanny- (or, in this case, manny-) employer relationships.)
PLAYING FOR KEEPS (February 15) wraps up Eve Dangerfield’s Playing for Love series with an anthology of short stories checking in with the MCs of the previous books and their post-HEA lives. This being Eve Dangerfield, I’m anticipating each story to be full of her trademark humor, heart, and heat.
LAST GUY ON EARTH (February 18–apparently moved up from a planned March release) by Sarina Bowen is a second-chance romance between hockey players who had a secret relationship 15 years before and now find themselves playing on the same team.
C.M. Nascosta finally brings her Girls Weekend series to an end with REUNIONS (February 19). Three female elves and their orc boyfriends must tie up the various strings of their relationships as one couple gets married, one couple considers their future together, and the other couple have to grapple with a menace from the past.
Willow Dixon’s IN PLAIN SIGHT (February 20) is the third book in her Legacy Mechanics series featuring the Millennial & Gen Z employees of the title business. In this book, two co-workers start texting/sexting each other on an app, each unaware of the identity of the other.
Briar Prescott’s JUST FOREVER (February 20) is a sequel to last year’s JUST A TASTE. The MCs from that book are now married, but apparently they’ve been keeping things secret because of one of them is a professional athlete.
Megan Crane’s THE COWBOY’S SECRET BABIES (February 25) is the next in her Careys of Cowboy Points series of contemporary cowboy romances. The title pretty much sets up the story: a man returns to his home town to discover that a long-ago hook-up resulted in twins. Crane (aka, Caitlin Crews) is the queen of angsty heartache, so I’m expecting plenty of it in this book
I’m enjoying the Hockey Ever After series, but I may wait for them on audio. The first two are anrrated by Nick J. Russo, so the series is in good hands.
I still haven’t started Sarina Bowen’s Hockey Guys series, even though I have the first one on audio. There are just so many m/m hockey series right now that I have to space them out or get completely confused about which series I’m actually reading/listening to!
I realized that even though I gave Just a Taste a good grade, I can’t remember anything about the book. I’m wondering whther I’ll keep going with the series. I’ve loved Prescott’s books, but I think I’d have to reread the first one in order to enjoy this one.
One of the criteria I use for my end of the year lists is whether I can still remember something about the book at the end of the year! Some books get a high grade but then I can’t remember anything about them months later, so they aren’t memorable enough for a list.
That makes sense! I do think there is a difference between an enjoyable experience while reading a book and a book that stays with you. Both may be worth high grades because the “in the moment” enjoyment is a major reason I read. But the books on my end-of-year list are the ones that are unique or stand out in some way.
I love the Hockey Ever After series and Sarina Bowen’s Brooklyn Bruisers series, both the M/F and M/M pairings, so I’m looking forward to Textbook Defense and Last Guy on Earth.
As for Just Forever, despite my love for Briar Prescott, I actually never got around to reading Just a Taste. I was so excited to find out about Just Forever as now I will just read them back-to-back like one long book!
