black_cobra_screen_shot Between end of the year work and getting ready for the holidays, I’ve been a little short on reading time lately.  Life is fun, just really hectic.  When I got an email from Avon announcing that they had created a new game based on Stephanie Laurens’ Black Cobra Quartet, I thought it might be fun for a quick break.  I was right about it being a diversion – but I got sucked in for entirely too long.

The game is called Crazy Cobras, and you can find it here.  If you’ve read the Laurens books, the basic characters will be familiar to you.  And if you’re not familiar with these books, the ones I’ve read so far are very fun adventure historicals which I’d recommend.  At each level of the game, you will be assigned one of the four heroes from the books and your task is to collect all of the gems before the cobras get you.  Easier said than done. I was so determined to make it to the end, but my utter lack of hand-eye coordination caught up with me each time.  Stopping to watch my cat get mesmerized by the cobras onscreen didn’t help either.

I’m not a big gamer, but I do like to play around online every now and again to blow off steam.  In a way, this game reminded me of arcade games from when I was in elementary school.  The movements of the characters and the manner in which one must gobble up gem after gem definitely made me think of Pacman.  The graphics also remind me of the older games from the late 80s/early 90s. So, if you’re looking to take a quick break and play with something fun on the internet, I’d definitely recommend it.  Also, it’s free, so the price point is just right!

I enjoy spending as much time as I can between the covers of a book, traveling through time and around the world. When I'm not having adventures with fictional characters, I'm an attorney in Virginia and I love just hanging out with my husband, little man, and the cat who rules our house.
