the ask@AAR: What will happen at AAR while Dabney is in India?

Hopefully, nothing!

Although there won’t be Steals and Deals beginning tomorrow. I may try and add some to our Amazon page, so make sure to look there each day. We have scheduled reviews and, baring a technical problem like the one we had yesterday, they should run as planned.

I will not be moderating comments but you guys do a great job with those on your own. Any questions you have for me will probably wait to be answered when I return the week after next.

I wish you all a good week. We are off for a giant adventure–my whole family, including my 87 year old mom, flies from the US and, a day an a half later, arrives on the west coast of south India where the wedding is being held. After two days of celebration, all of us plus the bride and groom will head back to Delhi where, after one night, we’ll take the toy train to Shimla, the summer capital of the Raj. Then, after two night, we’re back to Delhi for a night and then off to Agra where we will see the Taj Mahal at sunrise. Then, back to Delhi for the day and then a 16.5 hour plane ride back to New York and then home.

I’ll post pictures when I return!

Enjoy your week!

How lovely! Such a fabulous photo. Thank you for sharing it (and the rest of your adventure) with all of us!

Dabney Grinnan

It’s been a big adventure thus far and we still haven’t gotten to the wedding!

We arrived after over 24 hours of travel (four flights) and found the airlines had left ALL our luggage in Mumbai. (Even our carry ons which we’d had to check because IndiaAir only allows you to bring on 8kg.

The first ceremony was the Haldi–the bride and groom are painted with turmeric and dusted with flowers. Everyone wears yellow. Our yellow outfits were enroute so, within an hour of arriving, we spent an hour and the local mall and bought new outfits for all.

The first night was the engagement party which was a very fun time–it had an emcee. My son and his fiancee had bought outfits for us all to wear. The men’s all fit, but, out of all the women, only mine did. Fortunately, Dr. Feelgood is a dab hand with scissors and a needle and, with the help of many safety pins, altered them all to work.

Tonight is the wedding!

I plan to do 6 weeks with similar luggage. The only reason I’m checking a bag at all is trekking sticks are “at the discretion” of tsa agents all over the world. The checked bag will be virtually empty and my carryon duffle will get dropped into it after we arrive – assuming it arrives.

Wishing safe travels for everyone!
