My first taste of the holiday anthology lot for this year and it wasn’t too bad. An Enchanted Season has two standout pieces which made this moderately overpriced collection worth it for me. Let’s hope there are more where they came from.

Despite its nineteen previous volumes, this is the first Secrets anthology I have read. My experience, however, has not inspired me to pick up previous volumes…or later ones. All four short stories were unimpressive and unremarkable.
On the Prowl features four different, but uniquely-tied romances. These paranormal novellas will take you to a whole new world, sometimes literally. There’s huge variety here in terms of sensuality – and, unfortunately, quality.
If you are looking for a quick, fun read, and something to hold your attention, then this anthology is for you. It starts out very strongly with a well-written, light, funny, and very sexy novella. The second story begins well, then faltered, but the final contribution kept me thoroughly entertained.
This anthology starts quite strongly with two well-written novellas that manage to feel complete despite the brevity of the stories. The last novella would have been much better as a novel, or perhaps as part of a different anthology. It just didn’t quite fit. Despite this, I enjoyed Bad Boys with Red Roses.

The Sun, Sand, Sex anthology features three novellas clearly meant to be “beach reads”, but this reader found all three stories to be disappointingly average.
The good news is that Sylvia Day hits a home run with her novella here and, as someone who retains my affection for those old footnote-laden romances by Susan Johnson, the author delivers a story that shows her to still be in good – if not outstanding – form. And a third story, by Noelle…
