Lucinda Brant’s website is promoting a new set of stories about the Roxtons, set in the 1740s at Versailles early in their marriage. She starts with a reworked Noble Satyr, then follows with three short works — The Duchess, The Duke, Their Graces. It looks like these are only available through Kindle. The newborn in The Duchess is the hero in Midnight Marriage many years later.
Her site is silent regarding the Alec Halsey series. At the end of Deadly Kin, she teases another book in the series called Deadly Desire. There’s no hint about whether the fifth book will be forthcoming or not.
The ones I had on my calendar to read are Blush, Queen of Dust, Breaking all the Rules and Chick Magnet. but I’m also intrigued by Foxed by Jay Hogan, Shelf Life by Kelly Jensen, and Georgie All Along by Kate Clayborn. Meanwhile I’m still trying to read a bunch of 2022 books!
January 24 – The Duke Gets Even (The Fifth Avenue Rebels #4) by Joanna Shupe
Sometime in January (probably end January) – Fate’s Arrow (The Rising Wave #3) by Michelle Diener. The Rising Wave fantasy series is interesting and the magical elements are unique. When the heroine sews she imbues magical intent into whatever she stitches or knits.
My list for January is short. I preordered Ghost 19 by Simone St James. It has Rear Window vibes. From what I’ve read, there’s no romance involved but I’m always up for a SSJ novel.
I will read anything Jay Hogan writes so, of course, Foxed is on my list. I also look forward to Hell Bent. However, like Carrie G., the book I look forward to the most is Inevitable Disclosure by Nicky James.
The one most on my radar is Inevitable Disclosure by Nicky James. I just finished listening to Unstable Connections on audio, so I’m primed for the next installment. (UC was incredible on audio, but it was tougher for me because it’s so well narrated, including all the angry exchanges, of which there are many. Russo really brings the emotions across!)
I’ll definitely read the new Jay Hogan.
I’ll read Annabeth Albert’s new book, although it’s not my favorite series by her. The last two have been better than the first. And can I just say I’m really not a fan of the covers? I don’t like the hipster beard trend. It makes their heads look can shaped.
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who dislikes those covers (the Albert) – I’m not usually someone who ‘sees’ the characters as I’m reading, which is just as well because I find all those cover models very unattractive :(
Am reading – and enjoying – the Hogan atm, so watch this space.
I’m glad to hear the Hogan is enjoyable.
Yeah, I don’t find any of the models for that series attractive. And I really have trouble thinking a bunch of ex-military guys would be sporting hipster beards. They require a good bit of maintenance and you usually find them on fashion-conscious urban men.
I also dislike all the covers in Annabeth Albert’s A-list Security series! Ms. Albert likes them (says so in her newsletters) but it’s too much elongated head/bulgy muscles for my taste. I like this series OK but don’t love it. I do like her writing, however.
I’m just not a fan of ‘bushy’ beards in general, and I edit them out in my mind when I’m reading. I don’t mind a close-cropped “scruff” type beard, but once it starts looking like it could provide a home for small woodland animals I’m out!
So far, my January TBR consists of:
COERCION (January 10) is the third book in Amelia Wilde’s Controlling Interest trilogy. This is a romance on the darker side about a woman who embezzles money (to help her family, of course) from the company where she works and her boss who takes advantage of her vulnerable position.
THREE TO GET READY (January 17) is the third book in Skye Warren’s series about the Hughes family who are fabulously wealthy but cursed by a genetic condition that causes early dementia. The previous book, TWO FOR THE SHOW, ended on a cliffhanger with the hero’s father (who has been kept secluded for several years) having a public meltdown that revealed his condition.
COWBOY, PROMISE ME ALWAYS (January 19) is the sixth and final book in Genevieve Turner’s Cowboy Homecoming series. I’ve really enjoyed this entire series and am looking forward to the final story—a Beauty & the Beast retelling with enforced proximity.
ECHO (January 19) is the sixth book in Sybil Bartel’s romantic-suspense Alpha Elite series. Bartel’s books are written to a template (equal parts violence and D/s sex) and how much you like that template will determine how much you’ll like the books.
ONE NIGHT RANCHER (January 24) is the third book in Maisey Yates’s Carsons of Lone Rock series. This one features friends-to-lovers with enforced proximity and only one bed. Sounds like a trope-tastic ride!
Kati Wilde’s SHERIFF’S BAD BEAR (January 31) is a shifter romance connected to her TEACHER’S PET WOLF (the heroines are sisters and the heroes are brothers and shifters). It was obvious in PET WOLF that the MCs of BAD BEAR had something going on, so I’m very interested in seeing how it plays out.
